Kennedyville is a small, unincorporated community positioned in the Eastern Shore region of Maryland. It is located 85 miles east of Baltimore and 85 miles east of Washington, District of Columbia. Kennedyville has a population of about 200 people and is estimated to be the 2nd smallest municipality in Kent County.
Kennedyville is located in an area that was originally inhabited by Native American Indians. John Kennedy of Port Kennedy, Pennsylvania laid out the community in the 19th century. In the 1860s, the Kent County Railroad was granted right-of-way in the area where Kennedyville is located. The arrival of the railroad brought new life to the community. In 1875, Kennedy constructed two speculative houses that were known as the Parish House and the Grove House. Several churches were also constructed during the earliest years of the community. Today, historic homes and buildings stand in Kennedyville. Individuals who visit the community will be taken back in time to a simpler age.
