About Kent Island, MD - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Kent Island is a large island positioned in the Chesapeake Bay in the Eastern Shore region of Maryland. The historic place covers an area of almost 32 square miles and is home to a number of unincorporated communities. Also located on Kent Island are the notable census-designated places Stevensville and Chester. As of 2017, it is estimated that almost 20,000 people live on Kent Island.
Original inhabitants of Kent Island, Maryland were Native American Indians of various tribes. In the 16th and 17th centuries, European explorers arrived on Kent Island and by 1631 the island was designated as an English settlement. Kent Island was used primarily for agricultural purposes well into the 18th century until the soil became depleted of nutrients due to the lack of crop rotation. In the 1850s, the Town of Stevensville was founded on the island. A railroad station was constructed in the town and eventually, a number of small resorts were built on the island. The arrival of the railroad and the appearance of small resorts gave new life to the island. The island was used again for agricultural purposes and fishermen took advantage of the island’s location in the Chesapeake Bay. Today, Kent Island continues to be used for recreational and agricultural purposes. As aforementioned, a number of incorporated and unincorporated communities are located on the island in addition to many historic places. On Kent Island, there is something for everyone.
Kent Island is vulnerable to harsh winter weather conditions. It is necessary for residents on the island to have efficient heating systems installed in their homes. Freezing temperatures and snowfall are very common. Systems like heating pumps are best suited to protect Kent Island residents and their homes from potential damages experienced during harsh winter seasons.
In addition to heating systems, residents living on Kent Island should have cooling systems installed in their homes. The island is not immune to heat waves and high humidity levels are common. Cooling systems like central air conditioning units help Kent Island residents stay cool and comfortable in their homes when temperatures rise.
